Re: Celtics Latest Trade Most Preposterous says D'Alessandro

I don't know if I'd say I am in any 'camp'. What I do know is that the moves Ainge is making are not designed to win 'right now'. This team was such a mess when he took over that it was not possible to fix it immediately. If Ainge came out right now and said he had put his finished product on the floor, then I would agree he is a failure. But that is just not even close to being the case. How many guys on the team right now will still be on the team next year at this time? Pierce, Welsch, Hunter, Perkins, Banks, Davis... even those guys might not be definites.

Ainges trades have been to give him flexibility at draft time and also at trading deadline times. He has created for himself so many different oppurtunities of how to build the team. Plus, I don't see how you can judge a GM after less than a year on the job, especially when he has come right out and said that it will be a 3 year process. Some folks act like Ainge promised a championship this year.

For instance, you hire a carpenter to put a addition on your house. He tells you it will take him 3 months to finish it. After 2 or 3 weeks, will you fire him because the addition is not complete? No? Well why not? At that point, wouldn't your house be a mess? Whatever demo was necessary would be evident. Everything would look in shambles. But you wouldn't fire him because it is not a finished product yet, nor did he promise it to be at that point.

Simply put, those focusing on the team on the floor right now will call Ainge a failure. Those who can look down the road a bit and see the options and see the ways that this team can improve will not call Ainge a failure, yet. If 2 years from now the team still looks disheveled and there isn't a whole lot of change from right now, then it will probably be the time to call Ainge a failure.

I dont get it. Are you people in the "Danny Ainge camp" upset that he is being criticized? By even the best of accounts, I do not see how he can be graded any higher than a C for this season for his performance. Why are you so upset that the press is reporting stuff on here that other posters have been sayign all along?

This guy is a fool, he always hated the Celtics, he always hated Ainge since back when Danny played for us, he hasn't done his homework in
three years, and he has no clue what he's taking about. Just one more shortsighted sports writer with an agenda, trying to make us believe that all of Danny's considerable virtues are crimes.

So what if Danny would finish 30th out of 29 if vote for GM OF THE YEAR was taken tomorrow among GM's, coaches, players, and newspaper/.com writers. So what if his credibility gap has caused his players and coaches to quit on him big time. So what if fellow GM's are purposely playing hardball with him on the Baker situation and are hesitant to accommodate him in trades. And furthermore, Dallasandro, or however
you choose to spell your stupid name, I don't want to hear one word this summer about Ainge not being able to sign one important mid-level exception due to your cockabullyitisism that the word is out that the
Ainge-era Boston is a no-no place to play. No, you didn't say that in
so many words or even in any words, but I just knew what you were thinking.

Sounds to me like you would be a perfect fit for the Herald or the Globe. But if you can't say something positive about this team like "The Celtics RIGHT NOW have the talent to win the East, or at least rival the Nets,"
then why not just shut up.
