We had the Chicago feed. What did Tommy say about future coaches and what did
he say about Baker?

I couldn't tell you exactly, because I was half-reading a book by that time,
and half-listening to/watching the game. The gist was that the college coaches
in the NBA ruined the game by overcoaching and not letting their players run
and make decisions on the fly. He said that Obie never really taught offense,
let alone the running game (which he said you could teach in 2 weeks). He
thought the only college coach who could make it in the NBA was Jerry
Tarkanian, because of his commitment to the running game. He said some wacky
things, like that the ideal coach for the Celtics would be a combination of
Pitino and Westhead because of the former's teaching and the latter's
commitment to running. He topped it by saying he didn't believe weight training
caused one to become stronger - Mike had to do a double-take on that one, he
was so incredulous about what he'd just heard. Anyway, it's a mixed bag, the
way it always is with Tommy. There was more, but I missed a lot of it. Maybe
Snoopy has a transcript.

This game was a killer for me, comical. Why Carroll doesn't see that the Cs
are no longer into the Harter defense is beyond me.

I was kidding about his auditioning for another assistanship with Obie, but
perhaps I shouldnt've been.
