Re: Kedrick's contract

< As for his (Kedrick) contract, my recollection of those rookie deals was
that three years was guaranteed and that the fourth AND fifth years were
at the teams discretion. If we extend him, aren't we stuck for the fifth
year also? > - JBMetz

According to the CBA FAQ, if the Celtics decide to exercise Kedrick's
option for the 4th year ($2,332,388 in '04-05) they may retain the right
of FIRST REFUSAL by submitting a QUALIFYING OFFER ($3,193,040 in
'05-06). This would make Kedrick a restricted free agent come the
the 5th year.

< No, I don't think Ainge will keep him. As I said, I think he was
evaluated at summer league and found lacking, which is why they
traded for Jones. > - JBMetz

Ainge traded for Jones since he was the best Ainge could manage for
the useless Sundov, and felt that with Banks, Delk, and James, the Celts
no longer needed Bremer. I appreciated Bremer's character in the mold
of a Bruce Bowen or an Adrian Griffin; so did Miami. I know little about
the 28 yr. old James, but am not impressed with his .373 FG% and .294
3P%, especially on an Obie team. Is Danny onto an unpolished gem or
an unpolishable zircon?

Ainge will have several weeks of training camp in which to observe the
play of both Jones and Brown prior to making his decision on Brown's
option. If Kedrick continues to dash our hopes with sting, to display his
''Deer in the Headlights'' court demeanor, your ''No, I don't think Ainge
will keep him'' may very well prove correct.
