JB, I disagree.  I think, once again, that Ainge is
just plain using his managerial discretion to motivate
his players into playing better.  If Kedrick comes in,
tears up the place, and is the projected starter
coming out of training camp, Ainge will re-up him for
a fourth year.  That said, if Kedrick comes in and
doesn't perform how we'd all like, then he probably
won't get that extension.  The upshot of this being,
as always, that Ainge is using the extension as the
carrot to get his players motivated.  He's done it
with Antoine.  He's more-than-likely doing it with
Kedrick.  It makes great managerial sense.  He's
protecting the team's overall salary expediture and
he's also not-too-subtlely motivating players to play
better.
