shoes

On the shoes: I had that same reaction Mark about Waltah's shoe being
"unveiled".

I have to say again that I hate the white shoes -- I don't mean
dislike, I mean HATE (as I would if the C's ever change their uni's).
I know he doesn't care really but what Ainge says is like saying "too
many teams wear green now" as a reason to change the C's colors:

> <from mark murphy's notes>:
> Though the Celtics were once known for being the only team with black
> and
> green footwear, there is no such novelty anymore, according to
> director of
> basketball operations Danny Ainge.

> ``Now it's not unique,'' he said. ``Now every college team and high
> school team not only wears black shoes - they also wear black socks.
> And it's
> up to whoever your captains are, that's the way I look at it.

But that last line, coupled with this from Tim Weisberg's notes column,
makes me be able to tolerate it -- since the horrid white things will
be this year's headbands from the '02 playoff run:

> THE WHITE STUFF
> For the first time in team history this season, the Celtics are all
> wearing white sneakers.
>
> The display of team unity, which also serves as a nod toward carving
> their
> own niche in the franchise's history, will mean a reworking of Paul
> Pierce's signature Nike kicks and Vin Baker's "FBI" sneaks that are
> part of
> the Team Jordan line.

(the other) mark -- giddy about tonights game....
