Are you all so enamored of and secure with Blount/Baker with
LaFrentz as the only backup? Why do so many of you feel we can
afford to part with Battie? Is it due to his injuries or to Walter
being able to fill in so "efficiently" for him at the 4 or 5?
Otherwise, trading Battie for a 2nd or 3rd-string guard makes no
sense.

I'm not eager to get rid of Battie, but I can sort of understand the reasoning.
If DA trades him as a salary dump and that allows 1) Kendrick to get some
minutes and 2) to sign a better FA next offseason, then perhaps it makes sense.
I'd much rather have Battie than Blount, but Blount makes something like 1/4 as
much money, and Battie is not 4 times better than Blount. Of course, Baker
isn't 14 times better than Blount either, but he's untradeable and Battie has
trade value. Besides, they have 2 big guys who make $25M/yr. combined and need
to be played for that reason alone.
