My review

I was surprised to find the game shown free by NBA TV. The first half through the mid-third quarter was fun. I didn't agree with Heinsohn that you just let a jump shooter run his course, especially not Baron Davis. We should have bumped him and pushed him and doubled him until he thought pass-first. Our inside defense must be pretty good because they could only hurt us outside. I would have run Banks in for a few bursts in the second half to stay with the Baron and spell James. We just shouldn't have been that lethargic on defense.

It looked like coach reverted to last year's style--go to Pierce and let the others stand around. We have three good 7 footers who can hit a jumper--spread it out and get them a 15 footer! I was discouraged to see a good early effort turn to mush. O'Brien seems to lock up during the game.

Players: LaFrentz and Welsch looked good. In fact, after last night, I am wondering if Welsch might not do better than Kedrick. Welsch clearly plays basketball and I'm just not sure if Kedrick will ever be able to go out and play ball. All that athleticism appears to be wasted; he needs a year on the playground.

Baker started off with some awesome jumpers. Did we think to go to him after that? No.
Pierce is still forcing things. James looked just fine. He dribbles too much, but I think we stood around too much. The Globe suggested that we missed Williams. I think we miss Jumaine Jones; he should make Kedrick and McCarty obsolete.

Conclusion: I'm ready for a Battie and Kedrick trade for Jamison. Gene
