UNC Police Looking for Former Player Joseph Forte

Eyewitness News has learned police are searching for a former UNC star who is 
now in the NBA. According to a UNC police report, Joseph Forte instigated a 
fight at Woolen Gym on UNC's campus Thursday night during a pick-up 
basketball game. Sports anchor, Drew Smith spoke with UNC Public Safety and 
they say detectives still have the matter under investigation. A warrant 
could be issued for Forte's arrest very soon. 

The victim is James Gibson, a UNC student who says Forte punched him in the 
face, then took off. Gibson says he needed 10 stitches. 

Forte currently plays for the Seattle Supersonics. He entered the NBA 
following his sophomore season at Carolina two years ago. Just last week, 
Forte was arrested by police in Maryland after he was stopped for speeding. 
Police found a handgun and marijuana in the car and charged him with 
possession of marijuana, possession of a handgun, and possession of drug 
paraphernalia.
