3 More Years Of Wallace Hee Hee Hee

With the Celtics new ownership in Economy Mode (firing long time
employees, trying to fleece Vin Baker out of
his contract, raising playoff ticket prices, etc.), there's simply no
way
they are dumping Wallace, paying his contract off and then having to
shell out more money for another GM and his crew......

Wallace rests easy

It was probably just natural that people would see Dave Cowens speaking
with Celtics owners at last Wednesday's game and raise questions about
general manager Chris Wallace's job security.

In fact, Wallace has three more years on his contract after this season
(the extension was signed just after last season), and it is more likely
that if Cowens does come aboard with the club in basketball operations,
it would be in some type of scouting capacity.

Cowens, who now lives in Cincinnati, is open to getting involved in the
NBA again, but word is the demands of a GM position are not quite what
he has in mind at this time.

There is also talk around the Celtics that Wallace and O'Brien have made
an effort to thaw any chill that may have existed in their relationship.
The coach has made it a point to speak positively of Wallace lately.

Discussing Bimbo Coles' decision to come to the Celts as a free agent
instead of taking an offer that might have yielded more playing time,
O'Brien said, ``I think Chris always does a great job of recruiting.
Chris knows a lot of people and he's comfortable with the recruiting
process because he has so much experience with high school players and
college athletes. I think people are very comfortable when Chris comes
after them.''
