consensus on draftees

There is some talk about the ill-fated '01 draft and the idea that the list had a "sort-of consensus" about several players that the Celts should take. Those included Jefferson and to a lesser extent, Radmanovic, Murphy, Tinsley. Most thought Johnson would be good if he fell to us and likewise Battier. Almost all (whatever their feelings about Forte) thought we had enough swing men before our third pick. So, I would like for us to suggest our best picks (for #16 and #20) as the month unfolds and I will try to sort out who we prefer for posterity. Of course, James and Anthony and Ford are not realistic, but the foreign players plus the top rated late lottery possibilities and after that should be considered. Someone like Sweetney or Hayes or Wade or ?? will fall. Plus, suggest those we might pick up if we regain a second round pick.

So, here's my short list of possibilities (and I have not followed this like WayRay or others): any of the foreign corps like Lampe, Pietrus, Pavlovic and Barbosa, then Hayes and Collison, and West at #20 if we're delighted with our #16 pick and think a banger/rebounder could help our second team--heck, he's probably better than EWill right now. Still, I long for Steve Blake and will forever utter his excellence--until he proves he can't make anyone's squad and heads off to Europe. Maybe if he disguised himself as Steveya Blakovic and returned as a star from the Ukranian national team? Cheers, Gene
