Re: The Boston Celtics Mailing List Digest V10 #285

"In a message dated 7/30/2003 12:47:32 PM Eastern Daylight Time, TAM writes: I've been debating in my mind how I should handle this. Should I call you on the carpet? Should I just let it go and avoid any unpleasantness that might result? I've decided to just get it all out in the open."
My reply was posted on BOTH the Yahoo board and this one - since the AOL board of old is gone I really can't post it there can I? And if you want to take Chroads and Jhoksr1 word over mine go for it - that's your right. I just got sick and tired of being labeled a "Kansas hater" by the KU mafia so I qualified my statement. If you want to take such matters personally - that's your perogative, but you're making a mountain out of a molehill.
"I guess I could have confronted you weeks ago, but I let it go. After all, we've always gotten along in the past. But I'm not about to let this go a second time. Do you have something against me? Against KU? Against Paul? Heck if I know. But it seems to me if your willing to go around making things up and then "prefacing posts" to supposedly avoid confrontations that never happened, you must have some sort of agenda."
My only agenda WAS with Jhoksr1 and Chroads (two of the main reasons that the old board disintegrated BTW). Again take their word if you want - if I remember correctly the only time I ever spoke to you off-line about anything was giving you a good place to eat and watch March Madness games in Dayton. And the very REASON I quantified my statement to Rob in the first place was because I had past experience of my opinion being called "wrong" (and worse) and that I was in your own words "Against KU? Against Paul?" according to said "KU mafia" because I deigned say negative things about ANY KU player.
Perhaps my opinions came off as caustic before, I don't know and I don't save every post to check. If you're personally hurt because I lashed out at the KU mafia - sorry. I didn't label you as part of the KU mafia, but if you want to include yourself that's your choice. They lashed out first and I just replied. I criticize players in the NBA and other sports as a fan - I critique their games - their weaknesses and I sometimes even praise their strengths. If that offends people from KU when I do such things to their players (and God knows I criticize Kentucky, Texas Tech, Providence, Okaloosa-Walton CC, and St. Bonaventure players JUST as much to name a few) so be it. Some people's vicarious need to feel that they are somehow tied to these players very psyche producing an overwhelming desire to protect them against any criticism whatsoever seems awfully rampant among the KU faithful lately. I have no idea why. I like sports, but I don't like them so much that I make it my responsibility to be ANY player's guardian angel - they can pretty much take care of themselves.
I didn't mean to make this a manifesto. I'll say again I don't hate KU. I don't hate Paul Pierce, but seemingly there is a determined effort to make me take a side in the AW/PP debate (which is MY reading between the lines here) when I'm determined not to.
