Re: Larry, Larry ...

Personally, I think that for all their talent and hype, the Pacers were a poorly put together team. They have a lot of guys who can contribute, but no real deliniation between starters and reserves (in most cases) in terms of talent. Althought it is too early to know if this is either part of Bird's master plan or just a screwup, I think it makes sense.

Chad Ford commented that Pollard brings better defense and rebounding than Miller. As such, he will be a role player, even if he ends up starting. He will come in knowing what he is supposed to do and how to measure his success and contributions to the team.

Granted, Isiah is a horrible coach and its a question of when not if he will be fired. However, moves like this will make his job easier.

I would imagine this is the first of a number of moves to dump some salary and talent from the pacers 8 to 12 roster spots.

Of course, Bird might want to clear out just about everything, and keep only a few of the most promising guys (as he sees it), and start over with some cash free under the cap. We'll see, I guess. Overall, though, I'm having trouble seeing "The Plan." Maybe there isn't one, and this is just a big mismanagement. :-/
