Hunter, Walter, Roster

I accept that, as officially weighed and measured in
Chicago, Hunter is 6'7, 260 in shoes. That makes him
almost the identical size as Clarence Weatherspoon,
who has only averaged 12 points, 8 boards and 47%
shooting in his NBA career. Spoon is a pretty gifted
player, but those numbers don't seem out of reach for
Hunter (who shot 52% from the floor last year at Ohio
... along with, yowch, 56% from the line). Another
Ohio alum who measures up very closely with Hunter, in
terms of physique and game, is Gary Trent, who I think
most of us would agree would be a nice addition to the
Celtics (9 ppg in just 20 mpg for his career). I agree
with whoever said that if Hunter dominated - even if
it was just one game - against Sweetney, who
everyone's been falling all over, it's a sign Brandon
belongs in the league.

I DON'T expect Hunter (or Perkins) to get off the
bench much at all this year. Hopefully Ainge will make
O'Brien understand that you need to put your young'uns
in at the end of blowout games, instead of keeping
your starters out there ... but we can assume the only
rookie who'll get major burn this year is Banks. I'm
also assuming we won't see much from Baker this year.
So I figure that, barring a trade of EWill, we'll see
Williams and/or Walter backing up at PF. Frankly,
there's no other way Kedrick will get serious minutes,
especially if Delk is backing up Pierce.

So, assuming Boston adds a real PG to back up and
mentor Banks, that would give us:

PG: Banks, Kenny/Best, Bremer
SG: Pierce, Delk
SF: Kedrick, Williams
PF: Walker, Waltuh, Baker, Hunter
C: Battie, Blount, Perkins, Bruno (for now)

Assuming Baker doesn't come back strong, I'd also
expect Walt to get some time as third-string center,
as he did in the playoffs. Either way, the Cs still
look to get mauled inside again this year. Even if
Boston dumps Sundov, I don't expect to see anybody
added to the above roster unless they can swing some
kind of combo deal: Sundov and Bremer, for instance. I
think O'Brien will resist dealing Williams, and
rightfully so, at least until we know what Kedrick can
do.
