Veteran Pippen returning to the Bulls

By Globe Staff and Wires, 7/20/2003

Scottie Pippen returned to the Chicago Bulls, re-signing with the team he
helped lead to six NBA championships. The team will have an official
announcement today, Bulls spokesman Tim Hallam said last night. He would not
release terms of the deal. Pippen was a seven-time All-Star in his 11 seasons
with the Bulls, before leaving for the Houston Rockets prior to the 1999
season. Pippen has spent the last four seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers
... Free agent guard Antonio Daniels signed a multiyear deal with the Seattle
SuperSonics. Daniels, 28, who was a member of the 1998-99 champion San Antonio
Spurs, averaged 3.7 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.3 assists for the Trail
Blazers last season ... Free agent forward Samaki Walker was charged with
drunken driving after an accident earlier this month in Newark, Ohio ... The
USA World Championship for Young Women Team got a combined 24 points from
Alana Beard and Caity Matter to defeat the Brazilian team, 74-62, at Matthews
Arena ... Michigan State forward Paul Davis scored 20 points, leading the US
past Slovenia, 77-72, at the World Junior Basketball Championships in
Thessaloniki, Greece ... Ronaldinho, a star for World Cup champion Brazil,
arrived in Spain to sign with FC Barcelona. The Efe news agency reported his
old club, Paris St. Germain, would get about $28 million for the transfer,
plus as much as $5.5 million more if Barcelona does well with Ronaldinho.

Thanks,

Steve
