Re: [Celtics' Stuff ] "Riding that rain, high on ...."

JB,
Nice written article and informative....

I really enjoyed the individual discussion with Ainge. I tend to believe
of-the-record discussions with fans than what we read in the paper. Therefore, the
comments about Obie holding up changing up the offense is quite troubling. It
doesn't make any sense that Ainge extended Obie when he isn't even confident
that he is going to run the offense the way he envisioned or that he is
getting players for. What happens when Ainge tells Banks to keep pushing the ball
with abandon but Obie tells Banks to slow it down to cut down on turnovers?

Also, does it force Ainge to get another point guard who will push the ball
without being coached to? I think Kenny would work in both half-court and
uptempo offenses. However, he will tend to slow it up if not encouraged to keep it
up-tempo. I think a backup like Darrell Armstrong or Robert Pack would be a
player, although not as talented as Kenny, may have to be obtained because Ainge
can't trust Obie. That is no way to run a business.....

I am not excited about Travis Best. Although he is a good backup, he is more
of the half-court variety. I would further wish to punish him for not playing
for us last year.....

I chuckled to read you got your Jacque Vaughn request in. Ole Jacque will
never die....

No questions about trading Twan?....

Did you find the root of Lance and his thing on PP or did you not want to
meet Mr Hyde?<g>....

<< Danny Ainge was very cordial and engaging. I thanked him for rescuing
us from the "moribund" offense and he smilingly said; "The job is not
over, I have to convince Antoine and Jimmy." I was very surprised he
 was so candid.
As for point guards, my compulsion, he said we would get one. He said
he is not a fan of Jaques Vaughn and wished he could have signed
 Antonio Daniels.
Lance got over Leo Pappille, who said that Travis Best was coming to
town next week and that Kenny Anderson wanted to return, but that the
C's were afraid that he wouldn't want to play for the minimum, implying
that that is all they would offer.
He also offered that Kendrick Perkis was just not ready and that he
would probably not play much, if at all, this season. >>
