I'll tell you exactly what I have heard.  O'Brien loves the guy and 
the Celts have been offering him the vet. minimum while Strickland's 
agent has been holding out for the $1.5 mill exception. 

But it looks like Strickland will be going to the Bucks now which must 
be very frustrating for Obie.  The $811,321 difference between the 
$688,679 (vet. min. salary that counts against the cap)  and the $1.5 mill 
exception has prevented him from obtaining the FA he felt would be 
most helpful to his team.  

I suppose things could be worse for Ainge.  He could be CIA Director 
George Tenet being forced to fall on his sword or he could be Philip 
Morrisb(Altria) CEO forced to secure a $12 billion bond to stay 
enforcement of (appeal) a legally flawed $10.1 billion judgment.
