IIRC it was the fact that O'Brien re-inserted V back into the game AFTER he
had been injured that got people upset. At the very least speaking solely
for myself (as one of those who "crucified" the coach) I can assure you THAT
was what I found worthy of criticism.

Quite a different situation from the one you depict above. For one thing
when viewed in this light the reaction to how Obie handled V's injury is
certainly not the exemplar of nagging or nay-saying ("coach is in a no-win
situation") that you seem to imply.
