Re: Banks???

In something called practice and watching the action/discussing it with coaches and teammates from the bench. I have never ever understood this widespread apparent conviction that the **only** way for young players to develop and learn anything is actual game PT. Sure as hell didn't used to be that way and the main reason it's that way now is the money, not because it's the right way to do it.

Anyway, he IS getting some playing time, just not as much as before - for cripes sake, it's not like Obie has refused to play him since day 1. He only benched him completely for 1 or 2 games. It's apparently a disciplinary measure - the system isn't the only thing he has to learn and PT is the best way coaches have of getting players' attention. Particularly when the PT lesson includes us playing better with others on the court.

Don't worry about it. He has in the past and will in the future get plenty of playing time. It's also only his rookie season - he's got a lot of talent (I really like Marcus) but also a lot to learn. While I've been at enough games and seen Obie taking time to teach him - NOT just yell at him or harass him - during the actual game to make me fairly comfortable that he is working hard to develop him and this isn't some knee jerk benching of the rookie because he's a rookie or anything along those lines.

Subject: Banks???

What is up with Banks not getting playing time? Is he in O'Brien's doghouse?
How is he supposed to learn the system and get adjusted top NBA play sitting
on the bench?-Tony
