Ford Proposes Jones For Baker/Brown

Quite an interesting trade proposed by Chad Ford in today's Insider:

"Here's one bizarre idea. Why not pick up the phone and call the
Celtics? They're saddled with Vin Baker's contract for the next three
years and he's giving them nothing. Given the Celtics' money woes, they
just can't afford it. Jones would be a very nice fit in Boston, giving
the team that elusive third scorer.

Maybe Riley can get something out of Baker that the folks in Seattle and
Boston couldn't. If the Celtics threw in a young, athletic player like
Kedrick Brown, would the Heat bite?"

Seems to me, this deal would depend on how Baker looks in training camp
and
Ainge's evaluation of when he can seperate Baker from his Celtics
salary.

If Baker looks half-way resurrected amd Ainge thinks he's here to stay
for a while,
then this deal makes sense for both clubs. Brown would fit into Riley's
defensive concept, though playing time may be scarce, and Baker could
assist
Grant, while Jones would give the Celtics the needed third scorer, as
Ford notes.
And with Baker gone, some playing time may be freed up for Hunter.
Though I think
Miami would want a future first tossed into the deal. Perhaps it could
be done
during the trading deadline. That's likely the time, a veteran like
Jones will be dealt.
