Dorine - being shopped and not being with us next season are two
very different things. What exactly is Walker's present trade value?
I can think of at least a dozen PF's - Duncan, Garnett (SF-PF), Webber,
Nowitzki, J. O`Neal, McDyess, Brand, B. Wallace, R. Wallace, Martin,
Gasol, Abdur-Rahim, maybe even Jamison (SF-PF), Howard (but not
his contract), and the 108 yr. old Karl Malone- whom most teams would
be happier with than Toine. And many of these players have smaller
contracts.

And don't forget about recent draftees such as Troy Murphy, Amare
Stoudemire, Kwame Brown, Chandler, Drew Gooden, Boozer, etc., who
should be coming into their own while Toine's skills painfully
evaporate. And then there will be those fresh faces who will be
chosen early in this year's draft.

So you have to factor in that we may have waited a bit too long to
trade jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none Walker for ANYONE that
resembles comparable value since he is hardly among the elite
PF's of the league. Not only that, but forget about trading him for a
Sprewell or Jalen Rose. We must retrieve both a PF and PG for him
in any such trade since we have few other options for acquiring either
positions of need.
