Re: Thought son the sale

Too bad this couldn't have happened before the Baker trade/loss of Rogers.
Now the new guys are stuck with Baker's unmovable contract.

Anyway, I consider this great news. Brightened up a rainy day.>>Mark Berry

If the team's willing to go over the lux tax threshold, they're actually pretty well
situated to bring in the PG and bangers to round out the roster.

Let's assume that both SWill and Bremer are busts. They're both gone after this
season--SW's contract expires and JRB is on a one-year deal. We'll HAVE to assume
that Baker's got a little bit of game left in him; we know he's staying here with that
contract, and if things don't work well as a team, one of the captains is going.

Would that be awful? Most likely not, because as top-15 players in the league,
they'll command equal value in return. Wouldn't kill us to pick up Webber or Garnett
for either guy.

After this season, EWill's gone in a trade, and we've also got the two first rounders.
We will still have a core of three All-Stars and a bunch of positions to fill. It's
enough of a "nuculus", as they say on WEEI, to build the rest of the roster around
Obie's ideal basketball style.

Just one thing--how could Larry be part of this new venture? There's no way he'd
accept the GM role and if he's not a principle in this group, what would he be--an
advisor? Can't see him working for someone else at this point.
