Look For The Celtics To Sign.....

Yugoslavian center Dejan Koturovic, who is scheduled to
meet with Boston next week, says ESPN's Ric Bucher

And here's a fan's scouting report on Mr. Koturovich:

I watched Dejan play today against New Zealand. Good court awareness,
rebounds hard, gets back on D, decent hands, passes ok, some post moves
and a decent midrange shot. On the downside, seems a little awkward,
doesn't get up court on offense quick enough, gets a little "lost" and
forgets his man on help defence, puts a lot of effort in on the boards
but doesn't have the size, no real elevation on the jumper or on D so
may get taken advantage of by a more athletic player. All in all I would
say that he is worth a minimum salary risk if he will get an opportunity
to play and Harter will teach him a thing or two about playin D.

Dejan (Why is everyone in collective republics that make up Yugoslavia
basketball known
as Dejan?) may be better than the above person's description, as he had
18 points,
6 rebounds, and 3 blocks in the New Zealand game.

Here's what Telebasket says about the 6-11 Koturovic:

Size and Athletic Abilities
Big and nice body, with excellent size, wide shoulders and long arms.
Mobile, can run the floor. Not very tough.

Offense
faster and more mobile than most big man, relies on his quickness rather
than his strenght. Not a great low post player, tends to take fade away
shots. Can hit them, though, thanks to a soft hand. Coordinated, can
control his body in fast break situations.

Defense
A quick defender, can block some shots, but is not very solid in keeping
his position.

Notes
Koturovic has great tools, not so many big men have such a coordination
and so good hands. He lacks physical strength and determination, though.
A good high level player, anyway.
