It is easy to see why O'Brien likes him so much. Defensive effort is
in the heart and Eric has the respect of his teammates and the nerve to
rally them to the intensity level necessary.
Would the emergence of Walter McCarty and the return of Kedrick Brown
make him expendable? I'd love to see a front line of Baker, Walker and
Fortson.
With only having seen him twice, Sundov, playing like a telephone
pole, just does not seem like a player I'd want on the floor, except in
certain situations, to pull the center away from the basket, but he may
need 5-10 shots a game to get any rhythm. He's perhaps a good 11th or
12th man. Wolkowyski and Bremer should be on the I.R., which leaves a
need for another rotation player, as I've said, a banger/rebounder.
Looking at the box score, I see that Tony Delk had another big
offensive game. He started out badly, but after his first 4-5 misses,
including two, early, bricked free throws, he must not have missed
again. He hit shots from all over the court. Drives, mid-range and
threes, all off the flow.
The assist total is a big key, no doubt, without a point guard
running the offense, everyone has to continue to move the ball. Antoine
has been exemplary, while if the players can now expect Pierce to play
with his head up, we'll be a lot tougher than we were, even last year.
When the defense learns that they have to give Paul some room, to
watch for his passing, it will make him even tougher to guard and
obviously, it keeps everyone moving.
