Re: Rogers vs. Duncan

Rogers doesn't need a good point guard to function..though of course Jason Kidd
will help him. Essentially Rogers who really is only 6 7" at best, has "Guard"
skills in a large body. Don't get me wrong he doesn't have GREAT guard skills
but he has all the basics down. He can tutor Kedrick and yet
guard Dikemebe. He is Mr. Verstatilty. Like I said before he reminds me a bit of
Walker cept he shoots better, but doesn't pass as well.>>GuyClinch/Pete

Wow. Your post is all over the map, but please, let's not compare Vin and Rodney.

The Celts made the ECF with one of the ugliest offenses of all time. They won against
teams with many injuries, yet they themselves were nearly perfectly healthy all year.

Their team was one of the worst examples of coaching and training ever to hit the NBA
on the offensive end. Rodney served two purposes--he could play three positions and
he pulled a center outside so that PP could steamroll the middle and last more than 10
minutes.

That's it. Guy can't dribble, can't jump, can't work off a pick and roll more than
once a game and every china shop in town closed when the Bull pulled into the parking
lot.

Doesn't make him a bad person.

The problem and solution is this: Rodney fit the OLD Celtics. Third option for PP
and Twan. The NEW Celtics have 5 scoring options, all of equal threat.

Three outside shooters, Vin Baker wheeling from the post and Battie/Sundov cutting for
the dunk/layup. It's the Swan the comes from the Duckling of the Captains Crash and
Burn video of 2002.

It gets even prettier when the captains get to score from the inside NEXT year, when
the PGs are brought in who can work off a screen and the move the ball to the cutter.
I believe this with all my heart, and I like the direction we're headed, considering
that the captains are likely to be here awhile.

Yeah, Rodney fit, but that's complacency. The captains have to grow, and Obie's gonna
pull a few coat sizes out of them.
