Does anyone know the facts on when 10 day contracts can be signed that was

Having picked up my new media guide at the game tonight I can tell you that Jan 6th is the date when you can begin signing 10 day contracts. FWIW, it is always Jan 5th or the first business day after.

Do 10 day contracts count towards the total
salary figures as actual amounts paid? Or is there some multiplying factor
involved to annualize it?
OK, I think it's both yes and no.
The things I do for this group - I read part of the collective bargaining agreement and found myself nodding off...
The section on defining a player salary/team salary http://www.nbpa.com/cba/articleVII.html#section2 does mention 10-days, grouping them with 'rest of season'and 1 years in subsection f. Which makes it sound like the do make part of the cumulative whole. And the Salary Cap FAQ says released players (unspecified 10 day vs other released) count against the cap for the amount they made if unguaranteed, or for the full amount if guaranteed.
BUT they definitely do not count towards the escrow per section 12 http://www.nbpa.com/cba/articleVII.html#section12
The escrow is of course the pool of money that the fuss is about.

It seems that they count in terms of net cap for transaction purpose but not for luxury tax purpose if I'm reading this right.
