Scorboard watching is the seasonal habit of the also-rans. Fighting for
playoff spots and seedings are not going to concern the elite teams, but it
feels good, to at least to be in the running.
This will be a roller coaster three weeks, with four teams bunched 4-7,
just below us.
Charlotte is a beast right now. Philadelphia a pussy cat, but the tiger
may be back. Orlando is weak, even with McGrady healthy and Milwaukee maybe
coasting, or has become dysfunctional, to get out from the pressure that
coach George Karl is trying to impose, as the Pacers became a few years ago,
falling out of the playoffs, following a conference final loss, to the
Bulls, to send Larry Brown packing.
Lurking just below, seemingly safe and out of our first round sights, in
the 8th spot, is Indiana, but they are capapble of winning five or six in a
row, as they did last season, as we are of losing a few...
Three more games until Anderson returns. Take a deep breath......
No one posted an answer to my query last week. Are the rosters frozen,
or could a team with a late season injury, sign a free agent, who could
become playoff eligible?

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Standings indicate how teams are positioned to make the
playoffs. The top eight teams in each conference qualify
for the playoffs with the two division winners seeded
number one and two regardless of their records. The top
seed will play the eighth seed in the first round, the
second seed will play the seventh, etc.
