I don't see it happening with Duncan or JO'N through free agency, and the
price of doing business through trade would be at least Pierce + #1 pick.
Then you're pretty much back to square 1. Moreover, both Duncan and J.
O'Neal would have to play C in Boston, which they don't want and don't have
to do with their current teams. Kandiman is a different matter, but he's a
level (at least) below the premier big man level.

Here's an idea:
I don't know if this has any basis in reality, but let's assume the Cavs
would be willing to part with Ilgauskas because of his history of injuries,
and because Lucas doesn't seem to like him. Would any combination of
players and picks excluding Walker and Pierce get it done, and be worth the
gamble that his feet hold up?

Continuing the Lithuanian theme (can you tell I'm biased? :>), do you NCAA
experts think there's any chance of Darius Songaila's dropping to the
second round? I think he'd be a great pickup for us, given his excellent
low-post game, rebounding and basketball smarts. A definite upgrade over
Pot, maybe even Battie, although he's not tall enough or athletic enough to
play C.
