Obie still is a bonehead
Bird,
Ok. I have taken some of your shots. Note that your shots were only personal
in nature and had nothing to do with the content of my Celtic coaching
criticism. Let me step down to your level only long enough to say that anyone
whose handle is the name of one of the greatest Celtics ever gives me the
vision of a 5 foot 6, hairy forty something white guy who wears a Bird
jersey.
As to my use of '"bonehead" or "idiot", if you aren't frustrated by the last
ten games, then you aren't a Celtic fan. It would be obvious to most than I
am frustrated. It is just silly that I even have to reassure someone that I
really don't think that Obie has a less than average intelligence. However,
this doesn't change my lowering opinion of Obie's recent coaching decisions.
Most people including myself were onboard with Pitino and his coaching
decisions. It is hard to find anyone now who liked Pitino's coaching
strategy. I simply just don't understand Obie's fascination with Erik
Williams and 6 foot 2 shooting guards. It just irritates me to all get out
when people like you say "Don't worry. The Braintrust knows what they are
doing. That is why they are running the organization." Let me just remind you
that basketball isn't brain surgury. It is a simple game that many of have
been playing and coaching for many years. On the management and
organizational end, many of us have been doing that in the business world for
many years also. Finally, if a person can't comment on the play, coaching
decisions or gm moves, what is this list for? I would hate to think that we
would all have to agree with you or in the same way as you or we couldn't
comment.
Enough of that. One more slam of Obie for the road. Remember when Obie said
that the rookies have to prove it in practice before they can show it in the
games. Well, remember since the season started that we have hardly had any
practice and even when they could, Obie would give them the day off because
they have been playing so many games in a row? I came to the conclusion that
the rookies really haven't that much practice time since the preseason. It is
not surprising that they are not developing because they are getting practice
nor game time. Heck, they don't even get garbage time! I am kind of hoping
that we don't trade Forte in the offseason because he might show that he can
play if he got some practice and game time.
As for JJ's recent poor showing. Yeah, he is starting to show like he did
with the Celtics. However, Pierce went into slumps also as a rookie as teams
scouted his moves and he had to develop other moves to counter. The thing is
that you will never be able to change that JJ is 6 foot 8 with a great handle
and passing ability. The confidence and experience will come. Phoenix was
willing to risk the luxury tax for him...

<It's probably more accurate. Anyway, you're right about the productivity
question, but I menat "productive for this list" as in, I don't mind some
good ol' fashioned "bitchin' and moanin'" from time to time, but
simplistic name-calling gets tiring. Being critical means attempting to
be accurate, and I think if one *really* believes Obie is an idiot or a
moron then the likelihood that that person him- or herself is below
average intelligence grows. A certain amount of frustration-venting
name-calling is OK in my book, it's just that if someone were to
characterize this list as a place where dissention is frowned upon, and
the like, while spouting off "moron" "bonehead" and the like all the time
... well, let's just say there's more to being critical than just
assigning derogatory names to people.>
