Lakers have to be ecstatic; not only did they secure Kareem Rush from
Toronto for Chris Jefferies, owner Jerry Buss saved almost $4.5M, the
difference between Lindsey Hunter's two-year guarantee ($3.87M, $4.34M)
and Tracy Murray's one-year ($3.74M). What were the Raptors thinking?
Hunter's not a particularly good point guard (re-signing Chris Childs
would've made more sense), they're already flirting with the dreaded
luxury tax number ($52M or so) and need every penny they can squirrel
away to re-sign Keon Clark. . . . Casey Jacobsen hasn't given up the
ball since the McDonald's H.S. All-Star game, Stephon Marbury dominates
it to death and Penny Hardaway hoards it. Raw but ridiculously gifted
Amare Stoudemire should learn a lot from this Suns' crew. . . . Jerry
