Re: The Baltic Bear!

As an alumni of Wake Forest I have been watching Darius for 4 years and am
ecstatic that he lasted this long. I think that there is a good
possibility that by the end of the year he will be starting for the C's. He
gives us a low post presence that would allow Antoine to roam on the outside
which he tends to do. Songaila has a very good game up to 18 feet or so and
has a wide variety of shots. He can also play with his back to the basket.
He, as many Europeans, has the basics down and is very fundamentally sound.
He's a great foul shooter. He also doesn't shy away from contact and will
mix it up underneath. I think he has a little mean streak in him. The only
real knock on him at Wake was he tended to pick up cheap fouls. He improved
a lot in that respect in his senior year and didn't get called for a lot of
the cheap reach in fouls. It seemed that the ACC refs tended to watch him a
little more closely. Some will say he doesn't have a lot of foot speed.
Don't believe that.

I think you guys are going to be very happy with Darius. A great 2nd round
pick.

John
