Yes, keep hope alive!

1) Vinnie will score in the East unless doubled, and he
was once a nifty passer. He's recently improved a lot as
a FT shooter too.
2) Toine had wanted a big guy, so he'll be welcoming and
give Vinnie Microwave his touches.
3) There are no Krispy Kreme outlets in the Northeast.
Our only vineyard is named "Martha" and doesn't produce
much wine.
4) Obie is not a coach you can hate. Coach-player
relationship will be good, even if things don't always go
Vinnie's way which it probably won't.
5) Vinnie's older now and will no longer be as uptight
about his touches, now that's the pressure and criticism
are off his shoulders as a go-to scorer turned bust. He
will fit in well as a third scorer, provided the team
wins and the fans don't gratuitously boo him for being
way overpaid.
6) He could sneak back onto the All Star roster (a
comeback player of the year type story)if there are
injuries to Ben Wallace, Jermaine, Theo, Alonzo or Dikimbe
(not too far fetched).
7) Toine will get more rest. There will still be enough
minutes to go around to Battie. Say Toine (34), Battie
(30), Vinnie (14+18=32), Sundog (here and there minutes).
8) Kedrick has a chance to get consistent playing time,
now that the roster has been shed of Rogers, McCarty,
Strickland, Forte and all the backup shooting guard
minutes Delk take will shift over the point guard.
9) Yes we have a thrifty owner, but this time all our
core players are locked up for years to come. So he can't
dump them even if he wants to.

So there you have it. Battie and Kedrick will help the
Celts rotation assure that the defensive intensity
doesn't drop off from last year with the new
acquisitions. Our point guards will be a threat to stick
every open jumper, if little else. Pierce, Walker and Vin
guarantee you 60 points per night, every night, just like
the Big Three era.

49 wins again. I doubt it. But there might be stretches
when the Celtics will look unbeatable.

This was a basketball decision, and Chris Wallace and Leo
Papile know more about the game than some Sonics fan
website or our own much more limited exposure to
scouting. They see Shammond as an upgrade over Forte, to
hell with what some less informed critics might think.

Okay, most of the contents of this post was a real
stretch (especially the last part). But you are used to
comedy, Bill. What's done is done. At least we kept our
two best players, and don't have to worry about losing
anymore free agents for awhile.
