InsideHoops Rumors

I read in the Memphis fishwarp several days ago that the Griz were also
making a play for "a mysterious 7 foot Center" and there was speculation it
was this guy. Guess Wallace was too busy recruiting Bruno instead and missed
out on the clandestine workout in Boston.

The thing I'm a bit puzzled about is did the C's sign Bruno because he's 7'1"
or whatever he is and because he shoots well from the perimeter or do they
honestly think that he can in time become a decent Center capable of actually
playing inside? Otherwise, if you want a good shooting big man and that's it,
why not at least talk to Doleac; especially if Rogers walks or is signed and
traded?

"The Knicks are one of several teams vying for free agent Cezary Trybanski, a
7-3, 255-pound center from Poland. Layden and his staff held a clandestine
workout with Trybanski on Tuesday in Boston, and were impressed with his size
and athleticism, according to sources. Until recently, the 22-year-old
Trybanski was relatively unknown outside his native country. He is on the
Polish national team and played for MKS Pruszkow this past season. In 2001,
Trybanski was eligible for the NBA draft but was not selected. In fact, few
teams even knew about him." <A HREF="http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/story/4192p-3845c.html";>NY Daily News</A>

"Two down, one to go. The Knicks officially lost out in the race for Jerome
James last night, when the restricted free agent decided to re-enlist with
the Seattle SuperSonics for another three-year stint. Late last week, they
also learned that they have virtually no chance of getting Rasho Nesterovic,
the Minnesota center. That leaves Michael Doleac at the top of their shopping
list, but the former Cleveland Cavaliers center could probably demand more
now that the other big men available on the market are already accounted for.
