RE: responses to ravi, gene, etc.

It amazes me to no end what people think they read. It was never said
that failing to gush all over Cook meant that someone didn't know what
a point guard was supposed to do. It was said that Cook possessed some
outstanding pure point guard skills and if one couldn't see them then
they didn't understand much about the position. Those are two entirely
different statements.

Kim what did Bremer show you that Cook didn't? A jump shot is all. He
couldn't beat his man off the dribble. He couldn't penetrate the lane.
He didn't set anyone up for easy looks at the basket which Cook did
numerous times even while in the half court set. What he did was make
an open jumper or two and stand around at the three point line waiting
for someone to throw him the ball. Oh and he played some solid defense.
Exactly what is expected out of a Celtics point guard. Hit the three
pointer and play defense and you get a contract from Boston.

The reason why Cook will not make it in Boston is because he is pure
point guard and requires the ball in his hands. With the ball in his
hands he has the potential to make those around him better. However, on
the Celtics, the coaching staff would rather have Pierce and Walker
running the offense with the point guard being nothing more than a
shooter once he delivers the ball to the co-captains.

No doubt Cook is more about POTENTIAL. He is NOT a polished player yet
as has been stated by me and many others on numerous occasions. But
there is great potential.

>Bottom line IMO is that he DID show some things, but not as others have

described him and certainly not to the point where failing to gush all
over
him indicates a lack of understanding about what a point's supposed to
do.
A year getting some real game PT (including with the starters who would
presumably make him look better too) and playing in practice against a
KA
led starting team might do a lot to help that but not as guaranteed as
some
seem to say. Bremer looks like a solid, hussling, more mature backup
without the upside that Omar might have.
