Re: Gaston's Blue light special, Poor Coaching, Poor Energy

Your max salary players need to be more then a "very good player" to get to
the championship level.

Because a NBA team can only afford two "Max Salary players" for the most
part under the cap. Those two players need to be who the team is built
around and who "lead" the team. Like LA has Shaq and Kobe. Miami with
Jones, Mourning and Grant. ORL with McGrady and Hill. NY with Jones and
Sprewell, Boston with Walker, Pierce and Anderson. Phili. with Iverson and
Mutumbo, etc...

These teams all have two or more max guys. Who has been successful with
their choices? The other 8-10 players need to be rookie contract players
who contribute or veteran "mid-level pay" role players who make the final
difference.

It's tough to trade for real talent once they are established and tough to
trade away max salaries if you are wrong.

If Walker had a real center who could post up and rebound (Catch a pass?) it
would help his game more then another parameter shooter or two. Without a
center that can draw a single defender let alone a double team, Walkers
inside game doesn't exist against the top teams, which limits his
effectiveness. IMO. Give Walker a traditional center who draws the defender
and can rebound and Walker may be that leader, along with Pierce, to bring
us another championship in time.
