Davis becomes a FA after next season if he's not resigned. I would make your
suggested trade in a heartbeat but I think the only way Charlotte would make
that trade was if they laughed themselves silly first (unless we crash and
burn and then win the lottery). Davis would have an awful lot of value on the
trade market. We would have to begin negotiations by offering all our rookies
and that doesn't seem like enough. Other than Pierce or Walker, what do we
have that Charlotte would even want? Why would they take Kenny back? They
replaced him with Wesley several years ago and Wesley is still there. The big
problem in trading for Davis is also the salary cap since his current salary
is only about $2.4 million so it's difficult to compensate Charlotte until it
becomes time for a sign & trade. Davis is going to get a max contract so even
if we were able to somehow pull this off personnel wise someone would still
have to persuade Gaston to take on a third max contract. Davis certainly is
an intriguing player but he just seems to be out of our reach.
