Re: predictable wall

Paul, you're an effective advocate for Walker, and tho' he is an enigma and a frustrating player, I'm glad he's ours. Today's game shows how he comes back and makes up for deficiences over and over again. My point could be better made by saying it this way: we rarely have anyone on the offensive boards; thus, when Walker shoots a three, we have very little chance at a rebound; or when Pierce is fed the ball by Walker and makes a move, still, only the center needs to be blocked out. Walker is out of rebounding position. I don't see why he can't contribute his various offensive skills and be a presence on the offensive boards. The other point is that he mishandles the ball rather consistently at crucial times. It's frustrating because he succeeds just enough to convince himself that he can do it at will. I would not prefer PJ Brown, but he's not even a well rounded offensive threat down low, more like Horace Grant. Walker is a jack of all trades and that's not all good. Still, he drives the team; we seem to live or die with him. Until someone else steps forward to handle the ball along with Kenny, I'm sure he will continue to play at the point much of the time. The answer is in coaching. Coach needs more offensive rebounding and better ball handling. He should figure out how to get it. Gene
