OK, now I get it: Samurai board poster! LOL
So we're all Scrooges, if we point out that the team is performing
poorly, not reaching the marks for rebounding and finding the open man;
weaknesses, that this team needs to overcome to be considered
championship caliber?
O'Brien may be correct (and God bless tiny Jim) in saying that the
full defensive effort, from all 12 players, will keep us in contention,
but to compete for a championship, I believe we need to beef up our
bench, with rebounding and passing skills.
If Kenny Anderson were available, within our price range, for whatever
reason, I'd grab him in a minute. He played defense for us and played
smart. Perhaps his legs were shot at the end, just like Pierce's and he
missed some big shots, down the stretch, but without him, we never have
seen the Eastern finals.
I've likened our offense to the Red Army in WWII. Just taking hit
after hit and retreating and retreating until the enemy was worn down
from killing them.
A good point guard, is like having a brain in the center of the
organism, instead of five hearts running around on pure emotion, we'd
have a guidance system, to direct the energy. Listening to Cedric
Maxwell call the game on the radio, against Cleveland, we heard
castigations; against Walker for firing a three with Baker in the low
post, with his man "pinned" and Pierce for driving into an offensive
foul, on a three on two break, with Brown open on the wing.
Philadelphia took Kenny Saterfield. Perhaps looking for someone to
fill the "Speedy" Claxton role.
Hello Celtics "brain trust?" Grant Long and Greg Anthony are still
available, but they won't be for long!
