Some of this does happen in regular season. But heck, even in high school
games you don't have time to prepare for your oppenents, especially in
tournament time. You try to just go with your strengths and what is working
for your team.

In the NBA playoffs, you can play the same team 7 times. The opposing team
will have the time to scout out strengths and weaknesses. They will also have
opportunities in the games to try different offensive options and who can
beat who offensively and who can defend who defensively.

Note that the Cs many times only have a light practice and watch a little
film before their next game. Do you think Walker has any idea if he can get
his hook shot over Yao Ming until he has a few cracks at it? Can a person
blow by Grant Hill now, etc. etc. Sure there is increased intensity. But note
that B. Scott said that they beat the Cs were they went to the zone (simple
countermove). I agree with a couple of modifers. They beat us when they went
to a zone when also Pierce and Walker went cold and also the refs started
calling charging calls on Pierce after Kidd was just throwing his body in
front of him regardless of whether his feet were set or not (Kidd guarding PP
and getting the refs to buy his flops = checkmate countermove)....
