Thinking Outside The Box To Find The Celtics A Quality PG

Right now, the Celtics are looking at Erick Strickland, Tim
Hardaway, and other Bargain Basement types to fill an immediate
vacancy at the point guard position But as the trading deadline draws
near,
and the possibility of being in the playoffs becomes clear, one can only

hope that Boston management seeks out more of an impact player
at lead guard to do battle with the Jason Kidds of the Eastrern
Conference world.

As the trading deadline does truly draw near, those clubs whose hopes
for the
playoffs have been vanquished by disaster or discord, may be more than
willing
to trade players, who currently aren't available. Quality players that
could make
a difference in the Celtics fortunes.

Philadelphia for instance, if they crash and burn, could place Eric Snow
on the market.
Milwaukee, the same for Sam Cassell, if he's not dealt earlier.
Minnesota
avec Terrell Brandon; Utah with John Stockton, and Atlanta with Jason
Terry.
Dallas, is the exception to the above rule, but they may make Van Exel
available to achieve more of a defensive presence.

And then of course, there's the New Orleans Hornets with point guard
turned shooting guard (because of the presence of Baron Davis), now
third guard - David Wesley. If the Hornets experiences difficulties,
Wesley
would be a logical guy to trade.

The Celtics, for instance, could send New Orleans a Real GM approved
package
of Tony Battie, Kedrick Brown, Shammond Williams and a first for
David Wesley, Jamal Magloire, and Stacey Augmon. A beauty of a deal
that finds the Celtics with a solid point guard and a promising young
center.
Of course, Kedrick Brown would have to be developed, to encourage the
Hornets
to make such a trade, and Brown's development is not a given at the
moment, with
Jimmy O' Brien at coach.

Which is why, I hesitate to propose the following suggestion, as I
wonder,
if Coach O'Boring will allocate the necessary developmental time, but if
the C's
want to come up with a promising young PG, and not wait until next
year's
draft, then they should go after Marko Jaric of the Clippers. Like right
now, before
the World Championships, and his starring role as the starting PG on the
Yugoslavian
National Team.
