Weekend update

First,
Bird -- you better get a word out to Pierce that Obie isn't a bonehead and
knows he is doing. Hee Haw. Seriously, Obie "brang it" this year. Because of
the overall success and because he has brought this far, I am backing him
100%. However, I think he overcoached when he diagramed the play for Walker
instead of PIerce. It was a 1 point game and Walker had just missed about 7
in a row. Pierce had broke the field and powered for an attempted jam and
foul. Pierce is your go-to guy. WHY WOULD YOU DIAGRAM A PLAY FOR A THREE
POINT SHOT WHEN ALL YOU NEED IS A TWO TO WIN? You have no chance at a foul
call when you are shooting a three. The refs were ready for Pierce to bring
home the glory (opinion). Coaches have been fired (mostly in football) for
making the wrong call at critical times. You got to let your big dog bring
home the win. You don't let your "MVP" be a diversion. He is supposed to win
it for you.

Lance - give it up on the Pierce bashing. He is one of the top five players
in the league. Larry Bird said the same. People aren't calling him a "MVP"
candidate because he is somehow flawed as you keep alleging. You are just
making yourself look like an idiot.

Game 3 - We simply lost this game in general because we gave up 108 points.
Think about it. 108 points to a one-hit wonder that we held to 85 points in
two games prior. The intensity wasn't there. The defensive rotation
definitely wasn't there. That was it in a nutshell. It was a shame that we
had to waste that great Walker shooting performance. However, we lost a game
earlier in the season in the same way. Walker went crazy shooting threes in
the first half and everyone forgot how to get a real shot in the second half
when it counted. We lost that game too. We still could have won this one if
1) if Kenny had passed back to an open Rogers for 3 point attempts instead of
a cold Walker 2) a stupid, gambling foul by Kenny when we had a 3 point lead
with a minute and a half left or 3) Walter should have stayed with Iverson on
the pick and roll with us up by 1. They switched back and Kenny couldn't get
back and Iverson drove in a for 10 footer and the lead.

Game 1 and 2 - If no one has recognized it, that was old-time Celtic
basketball. Everyone giving it up, gutting it out. All hustle. Game 3 was
back to the regular season type of basketball. Yet, it is hard to blame the
C's. It is hard to put the team away and gut it out every game when it is so
easy just to jack a 3 and don't play D. They almost pulled it off. However, I
think they will go back to the other style in the next game. But you got to
get when they are down. I will never forget that Bird team that lost to the
Knicks after winning the first two and should have won the 3 game. Cousy said
"Don't worry. The boys will bring it home" after game 3. Snakebite.....
