Waiver wire

Teams are hiding marginal players on the IR, as Charlotte just did with
Jerome Moiso (knee tendinitis) and Miami did with Ernest Brown (jammed
right thumb) and a few other players I've barely heard of.

Still there are a few familiar names on the waiver wire so far, several of
whom will no doubt be forced to retire and find new careers/diversions.

Derek Strong
Derrick McKey
Cedric Ceballos
Will Perdue
Muggsy Bogues
Aleksandar Radojevic (7-3)
Erick Strickland
Khalid El-Amin
Omar Cook
Randy Livingston
Donny Marshall
Don MacLean

Not much out there yet, but bear in mind the Celtics are entering the
season prepared to give up to 14 mpg of PF minutes to Eric Williams (2.6
rpg and .362FG shooting last year in 21.5 mpg). Its hard to find anyone on
the waiver list who can match "Thanks Coach" strictly in terms of lack of
production or suitability for that role. Might as well have Muggsy back up
Walker or something.

BTW, did you guys catch that article in the NYT Sunday Magazine about Bill
Walton? It notes in passing that he can't really walk and will likely never
be able to shoot a basket again etc. So he tries to play the piano. It was
a downer of an article in general, about one of the truly great team
players in college sports history.
