Answer to my previous question

I wonder what Pierce was doing guarding Baron Davis? A pretty strange matchup.

 From the Herald

The Hornets took away Paul Pierce, who went 2-for-8 from the floor for the
night (six points) in 19 minutes before fouling out. He opened the game
guarding Charlotte point guard Baron Davis and was in trouble from the start.

``Paul got some quick fouls and was never able to get into a rhythm,'' said
O'Brien of Pierce, who has made 5-of-21 shots in the last two games - both
losses. ``He didn't get enough touches because, frankly, we're not moving
the defense.''

Teams are taking advantage of the new rules to double-team Pierce earlier,
and the Celtics haven't moved the ball well.

According to O'Brien, the entire problem can be alleviated by playing
better defense, rebounding (the Hornets had 19 second chances last night)
and getting fast breaks.

Joe Johnson twisted his right ankle in the last minute, but it wasn't
looking too severe last night. After scoring on a drive, he had his foot
stepped on by Jamaal Magloire.

There were nine technical fouls called for defensive three seconds last
night, and O'Brien thought they were all proper interpretations of the new
rule.
