That absolutely true. Moiso wasn't drafted on his production. 1.3
blocks and worse than a 1:2 assist/turnover ratio in 27+ minutes per game
over 60+ games illustrated this fact to most fans on draft night, including
my good friend Mark Berry but I may be mistaken. Moiso shot 61% from the
line both years. Didn't improve at all. He was 22-years-old before he was
even drafted, older than some college seniors.
Now Mark is again right that its very fair to discount Kedrick's
2.3 blocks and 2.3 steals, or the 3.3 assists and 8.9 boards, or the 23 ppg
on 53% shooting by factoring in the weak level of Juco competition. I do
think the 75FT% is pretty solid for any teenager (or most any NBA rookies
for that matter), and has less to do with the level of competition. You
have to have some gym rat in you to reach that proficiency at that age.
At this stage, I'd argue that Moiso shares just one thing in
common with Kedrick (athleticism). Not age, not production, not attitude.
The day Kedrick starts acting mopey, unmotivated and cranky, I guess he'll
have a second thing in common with Moiso. But at this juncture, I'm not
sure the phrase "double standard" tells you the whole story. Who knows what
the whole story is on Moiso, but I think it is way down the list of
motivations for making the Philly trade.
