It is not, nor never has been my intention to engage anybody in any wars on
this list except for Forant :-) I can get just as heated as anyone else but
I have tried to not launch personal attacks.

This whole thread could have been avoided but then you will have folks
claiming that their rights to freedom of expression have been trampled.

I find the expression offensive and that is why I wanted the thread to
cease. Alex hit the nail squarely on the head when he mentioned the
possibility of folks having a reason for not wanting it to be used. Not to
get too into what happened, let's just say that I was subjected to a LOT of
ridicule as a DIRECT result of the usage of that term. I do NOT like it.

What bothers me, at this point, is that some on this list do not seem to
understand it. Like it is reverse racism as it has come to be called, to be
offended by such things. At the risk of being called overly sensitive, or
making a mountain out of a molehill, or any other such ill-advised notions,
it is a personal issue which I have/had to deal with my entire life.

As it pertains to Ryan, I have tried to extend an olive branch to him and he
does not appear to be interested in it and has vowed to continue to call
names. I do not want that to continue. But is seems like some folks have
no problem with it as long as it is not directed at them.

I am a 46 year old man who has a family, a career and a life. I don't need
the aggravation which is caused by this lack of empathy and understanding.
I enjoy the Celtics and enjoy participating in discussions about them, as
opposed to arguments. When the discussions must be constantly qualified
with an explanation of why one finds something, which is universally
acclaimed as distasteful as some of the remarks featured lately, there is a
problem.

With all this shit going on around the world, this list should be a fun
place to visit, not one where we have to defend our feelings and the reasons
why.

Cecil
