Sportstalk on Pick 11

 11. Boston Celtics (from Denver)
Likely picks: Jamaal Tinsley, Richard Jefferson, Brendan Haywood, Jason
Collins
Celtics GM Chris Wallace is leaning toward taking the pick from Denver
giving Boston three in the first round. The Celtics don't want three
rookies with guaranteed contracts on their roster this year, which is
why they'll likely select Pau Gasol with either their 10th or 11th pick.

The Celtics could go several ways here, but what they do will likely
depend on how Iowa State point guard Jamaal Tinsley does in individual
workouts. The Celtics like him and think he's cut out of the same mold
as Cleveland's Andre Miller. However, he may be available when they
pick again at 22. But don't count on it. Tinsley has been shooting the
ball well at recent workouts (the big knock against him) and his late
season swoon could be erased by a series of strong workouts. He's the
best and most seasoned point guard in the draft and the Celtics aren't
likely to gamble that he'll fall another 11 picks, especially with the
Warriors looking at him at 14.

Boston will take a look at big men Brendan Haywood, Loren Woods and
Jason Collins if they decide to gamble on Tinsley. Richard Jefferson is
a sleeper here. He has the athleticism, speed and defensive prowess to
step in for Brian Stith at the two. The Celtics could use more athletes
and Jefferson (or Joe Johnson if he's still around here) would be a nice
fit.
