Death of '56 Olympian

I am sad to report the passing of Leamon King, a former teacher colleague of
mine in Central California. He died yesterday in Los Angeles at age 65. He
won a gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne in the 400-meter
relay.

I bring this up because he and I had several discussions with him about Bill
Russell and KC Jones, both of whom were '56 Olympians and whom King knew
both men. I mentioned this in one of my articles on Russell a few years
back, in that King knew Russell as a man who had his own definite ideas on
things in general, and a man who knew how to accomplish what he set out to
do. I must admit we talked more about Russell than we did about Jones.

I am saddened with his passing, he was a great teacher for many years as
well as a hallowed Olympian.
