Brown scores season high in return

NICEVILLE - Kedrick Brown is back, and in a big way.

The All-American sophomore, who missed three games because of turf
toe, scored a season team-high 37 points in leading Okaloosa-Walton to
a 91-69 victory over Pensacola on Wednesday night.

"It was an outstanding performance and obviously, Kedrick Brown,
welcome back," Raider coach Bruce Stewart said.

The 6-foot-7 forward, who has signed with Louisiana State, sank
14-of-17 field goals, including 6-of-8 3-pointers mostly from the top
of the arc and four slam dunks. He also hit 3-of-4 free throws.

"He had a lot of open shots and Kedrick is a good shooter and he made
them," Stewart said. "As long as he takes good shots, and it's in the
flow of everything, he certainly has the green light.

"He did look like he had a lot of energy built up and a lot of shots
stored up in the banks there. He made a lot of nice 3s and had some
spectacular dunks. The only negative about Kedrick is that he has only
one more home game."

What makes his performance all the more spectacular is coming off an
injury as severe as turf toe.

"Kedrick is just unbelievable and to come back off an injury like that
is just amazing," said sophomore guard Tyrone Tiggs, who had turf toe
last summer. "A lot of turning and pulling on the toes, it's very
painful."

Brown slammed home an alley-oop pass from Thomas Hughes with 19:06
left in the second half for a 49-33 lead.

Then, about six and a half minutes later, he caught the ball, did a
360-degree spin and went airborne. That dunk highlighted a 13-0 run
that gave the Raiders a 28-point (69-41) margin with 11:11 remaining.

With 6:07 left, and OWCC up 80-55, Brown asked out of the game.
