I know Alex is going to pull his hair out reading this crap, but this
year's second round could be one of the best in a long while. Really! ;-)
If you told me twelve months ago that this is how the future NBA first
round would shape, I would have been very bummed but not shocked by the
lack of "lottery" talent.
Loren Woods, Trenton Hassell, Antonis Fotsis, Ousmane Cisse, Jeff
Trepagnier, Alvin Jones, Terrence Morris, Ken Johnson, Omar Cook, Gilbert
Arenas, Damone Brown, Jamison Brewer, Brian Scalabrine, Kenny Satterfield,
Michael Wright, Bobby Simmons and Eric Chenowith.
It is staggering how deep USA basketball is. It is a bit like that with
French football these days, in terms of the depth of talent. But these are
the glory years here.
It is too bad there isn't a minor league affiliate for every NBA team. I
think they should consider matching up each CBA/IBL team with an NBA squad,
and add two or three more rounds to the draft.
Boston's "Triple A" affiliate could be the Maine Lumberjacks. That was
always one of my favorite CBA team names. I don't know if they even still
exist...
I can't wait to see JJ, Moiso, Kedrick and Forte in the Shaw League. If
Moiso doesn't show up, I'll be a bit ticked off. It would be great to see
some veterans show up too. We have a whole new set of NBA rules to prepare for.
I'm still hoping Antoine can get Nazr Mohammad over here. That would make
this off-season really grand! Nazz has a chance to start and be part of
something really good here, and there's a comfort zone with the system and
the coaching staff.
I'm already thinking ahead to the recruiting pitch...
