You're absolutely right, I overlooked that since May's articles are so
eminently skimmable. With regard to Diop, there frankly isn't any obvious
reason for subterfuge drafting at the number ten spot. I think Papile said
what he means and Wallace said what he means (or as May says he says). They
clearly don't agree on the need for a center, but the GM is the boss.

If Sagana Diop really is there (and checks out health-wise), we should take
him simple as that. When he was healthy, he was the best center in high
school and that's with far less basketball playing experience than the
Americans.

Moreover, when was the last time Boston drafted the best player straight
off a national championship team (Oak Hil Academy)? Was it Bill Russell?
Maybe John Havlicek (although he wasn't the best OSU player, Jerry Lucas was).

In this regard, give Gasol his due. His team swept to win the national
championship in Spain, something Shaq and Kobe can only wish they had done.
Too bad the Boston Celtics couldn't add two national champions (Gasol,
Diop) to our squad next year, but it wasn't meant to be.
