It doesn't matter. Even if Jackson did get more titles, Red BUILT those
teams, and 7 other championship squads besides. On top of which, he
coached the Celtics to something like ten regular-season-best records,
which is really more of an achievement for a dynasty like that. Jackson
does deserve some special credit, however, for getting the most out of
players who he had very little power over in terms of money / job security.
Auerbach coached in the Lombardi-era, when you could fire anybody you
that didn't jump the way you wanted.

Very well summed up, Josh. This is a team that Jerry West built, and Jackson
coached, while Red did both in his day. While Jackson is a great manager (for
that is what NBA head coaches are), and the location helps a lot with today's
free agents, the majority of the credit goes to Jerry West.
On a related now It's funny how the media now construe all Jackson's actions
teleologically, as though everything single thing he does is part of some
master plan. A few months ago they were questioning his abilities as coach, but
now they've seen their 'error' of doubting the magical powers of the great
Zenmaster. What a herd of sheep.
